Founded in 1875 by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet in Le Brassus Switzerland. The brand has developed only high end watches, and complications since its establishment. Allowing the brand to be classified into "The Holy Trinity" of watchmaking.
Audemars Piguet has always been a pioneer in Swiss watchmaking; early in its history, the manufacture focused heavily on crafting watch complications. For example, between 1882 and 1892, around 80% of Audemars Piguet's timepieces included at least one (often more) complication such as chiming, chronograph, calendar, or astronomical ones.
That pursuit of mechanical mastery, alongside the company’s emphasis on traditional decorative techniques and hand-finishing, paved the way for Audemars Piguet’s current status as a leading force in high horology.
The 1970s proved to be a pivotal movement for the company with the release of the Gerald Genta-designed Royal Oak in 1972. Unlike other luxury watches of the era, which offered refined precious cases metals, classic designs, and often, complications, the Royal Oak was a large stainless steel sports watch with simple time and date functionality.
It was instantly recognizable thanks to its unique eight-sided case, octagonal bezel, and integrated bracelet, effectively launching the luxury sports watch category that has grown to become immensely popular. In short, the Royal Oak has become the most famous Audemars Piguet watch for sale, and today it’s available in a vast assortment of metals, styles, sizes, and complications such as chronographs, perpetual calendars, tourbillons, and so on.
In 1993, Audemars Piguet released the Royal Oak Offshore, a more robust version of the original model with modern design details such as visible gaskets, rubber-clad pushers and crown, and a bolder overall style. Nicknamed the “Beast” the Royal Oak Offshore was offered to refresh the Royal Oak series, to meet the demands of collectors seeking larger watches, while offering enhanced water resistance over the standard Royal Oak models.
Today, the Royal Oak Offshore line remains a popular option, offering a range of sizes, materials, and models such as chronographs, diving watches, and limited editions. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept made its debut, designed as a futuristic take on the original Royal Oak. The collection houses innovative complications, cutting-edge materials, and ultra-contemporary designs.
Other than the Royal Oak and its derivatives, there are other notable Audemars Piguet watches for sale models too. For instance, the Code 11.59 is one of the newer designs from Audemars Piguet, featuring a more traditional round silhouette but also including the brand’s favorite eight-sided shape as its middle-case and a unique double-curved sapphire crystal.
There’s also the creative Millenary collection with oval cases and off-beat designs in addition to the Re[Master] line of vintage reissues.
